These parents, if you can call them that, make me physically ill. Teaching your children to hate people because they are not what you are is disgusting. In this instance, this couple taught these young children to hate anyone who is not "white".
I am putting "white" in quotations because "white" can be a lot of things. My background has everything from Italian, Scottish, Metis and Irish floating around, and I am white as snow. I am very proud of all aspects of my cultural background, and I am very proud to be a Canadian.
How can you be proud of being "white"? What does "white pride" mean? I guarantee you I am not "white" enough for these asshole parents underneath it all.
These poor kids will never, ever grow into healthy, adjusted adults if they are returned to these monsters. Clearly they already took what their parents said to be the gospel. These kids will probably never be able to form an independent thought whether they remain in the care of CFS or are returned to the parents.
For that - I say you must keep these kids as far away from these horrible people as possible. It would help if you just dug a hole and pushed the parents in, threw dirt on them and walked away. I don't think anyone will miss them.
But the problem here is the issue of rights and free speech.
It pains me to admit this - but if you are going to take these kids away based on what their parents are teaching them (for the record - it's to hate everyone who is not "white"), then you are going to have to start looking at a lot of other parents and what they teach their kids.
You have parents that take their children to churches the preach intolerance and hatred of gay people. There are more than a few religions that convince their faithful that anyone who does not fall in line with their beliefs is somehow evil - therefore they will go to hell, or worse, should be killed in the name of God (Muslims, Jehovah's Witnesses, Fundamentalist anything, really, can all fall into this category).
If parents are putting their children in these institutions, and this is what they are learning, can CFS step in and take them away too?
I cannot sympathize with these parents. To send you child to school with swastikas on her arms and quotes from Hitler on her legs is deplorable. But sadly - in this case, the fact that we live in a place that values free speech and protects it fiercely, is what may tip this case in favour of the monster parents.
How far do we go, and what constitutes hate? What is free speech, and how much of what we say even deserves to fall under the banner of free speech?
The thing that breaks my heart is this case is not as cut and dry as it should be. These people should have their children taken and be sterilized so they can't reproduce.
My country sent millions of men to Europe in the second world war to stop Hitler and keep this world free. Because of the sacrifice so many people made - these people feel they have the right to teach their kids about Hitler as if he were a hero. The feel they have the right to teach their children racial slurs and how to kill a black person.
Somewhere - our rights and freedoms were hijacked. This cannot be allowed to happen. People can not be allowed to spread this hatred.
Simply put - it is not right.
Also - in case anyone should read further articles and see how the father describes himself as a "lifelong skinhead", I urge you to look into what a REAL skinhead is. Real skinheads are not neo-nazis, or racists. Did you know that traditional skinheads formed in London in the 60's and worshiped Jamaican music and culture? Being skinhead has NOTHING to do with any of the bullshit American History X taught you, that's a fact. If you want more information on skinheads, please go to this website.

Very well said Lindsey, I could agree more.
Just a few more points to add:
1. The swastika was originally a symbol for peace to the Hindu's and Buddhists prior to Hitler getting his hands on it and tainting and associating it with hate. I find it appalling that Hitler and others can use a symbol of peace to display aggression and hate.
2. There is a HUGE difference between teaching your children to be proud of your roots and then teaching your children hate. Sure you can be proud to be a German, but how can someone sit there and teach your children to hate someone they don't even know?!
3. Kids are not born full of hate, it is learned from their parents and it is clear that these children did not create the ideations on their own... it was passed down from their children.
Yes, Hitler picked that sign for a reason and it is a known fact. I don't know how these parents can tell everyone how proud they are to be white supremacists, yet try to hide behind the bullshit about the swastika being a symbol of peace.
Also - people can learn hate from anywhere. Parents are not the sole providers of hate. People grow up and learn to think things for themselves, positive or not. I don't think these kids will have that ability based on the way the parents have filled their heads with such terrible things. They may never be able to think or feel another way if they don't get away from them.
It's so sad.
It is sad. Just reading about what the kid said makes you heart break. I thought by now we'd at least have moved on... but we're moving so far back it's heartbreaking.
This seems to come at an odd time, especially considering that recent story about the family who named their kid Adolf Hitler. What the hell are parents thinking these days? Isn't Brayden or Rayne or Madison crazy enough for your kids name? No. You have to go and name them something that will ensure they will have their ass kicked every day for the rest of their lives. Congratulations, you're an idiot!
I agree with you, except to the point of the possibility that they have the right to free speech.
My understanding of the law is that even freedom of expression has limits. There was a teacher in Canada (and I know that's vague but I can't remember the name) that was persecuted for denying the Holocaust to his students. He wasn't granted the freedom of expression and I hope these parents aren't either.
The difference between white supremacy teachings and Christian (for example) beliefs against gay marriage is religion. I'm a staunch supporter of homosexual rights and freedoms, but according to many religious people, it is against their religion. As long as they are not preaching hate and how to kill gay people, they are only preaching what is within their rights according to freedom of religion. Their religion does not support homosexuality and they are entitled to teach their followers that and to refuse to conduct ceremonies for homosexuals. I don't agree with it, but it is different.
